About Us

Welcome to Our Woofs & Miaows UK-KR, a compassionate non-profit organization established in April 2021 with a heartfelt mission to combat animal cruelty in Korea. We support Korean animal rights activists and small organizations that are committed to ending the cruel dog meat trade and advocating for positive legislative changes.

Historically, South Korea has seen the consumption of dogs as a source of protein during times of food scarcity. Despite significant economic and societal progress over the past 70 years, the dog meat trade continues, inflicting immense suffering on innocent animals. We believe it is time for change.

We are pleased to share a significant development in the fight against animal cruelty in South Korea: the implementation of a new law banning the dog meat trade, which was passed on the 9th of January 2024. However, the efforts to enforce this new law will be phased in until 2027.

Our advocacy goes beyond addressing the immediate needs of these animals; we strive to shift societal attitudes towards the consumption of dog meat. Through our ongoing fundraising efforts, we aim to empower those at the forefront of change, ensuring that compassion and empathy prevail.
